Babes in The Woods
No – Not that kind of Babe.
I write today with good tidings of great joy. We have been somewhat Dog Poor in the past few years following the passing of much of our original canine membership. Three new members (more are welcome) were added following last year’s camp.
I can report that Len’s new Echo locating device, now a little over a year old, found, tracked down and flushed a grouse last week. Much to everyone’s surprise, Len knock it out of sky, and Echo finished the job by retrieving the carcass.
The 8 month old immigrants have also been enjoying their first hunting season. Scott’s new pup is performing like Déjà vu all over again. She has been finding and pointing birds like the child prodigy she is. Big sister Greta has been giving pointers on pointing as it where.
Buck Shot’s Tater Tot has been flushing grouse and pointing and retrieving woodcock as well. Don’t know if he likes to retrieve grouse because, to no one’s surprise, Buck Shot has yet to provide a grouse to retrieve.
Yes – they are still just babes, but I can’t help but get excited. Hopefully they can perform basic camp drills as well as they are handling the birds.
