Let’s Go Camping
The Good Doctor’s cabin is in a serious state of disrepair owing to the ravages of the weather, but more recently, the ravages of a bulldozer. The good news is that a new cabin should be available by next year. The bad news is that the current condition of the property is too depressing to host our gala event. That being said, I have taken unilateral actions, without consultation of the United Nations mind you, and have assigned Len and Jon the task of relocating camp to Benzie County. Scott will provide the compartment maps and local knowledge of recent deforestation to guide us to promising hunting grounds. As an added bonus, the deforestation and associated localized global warming should provide for better weather conditions this year.
At the same unilateral meeting of me, myself, and I, the date for camp was also set as October 16-19. Please note, you may petition the committee for redress of these decisions should you be sufficiently motivated.
Stand by for further information on the location of this year’s camp.

Having not been available for the first five years, I have anxiously awaited the annual 'setting of the date' by Sir Rob. (I have regularly been checking the blog.)
As of yesterday early AM, I noted the date had been set. As of yesterday mid-AM, I had scheduled the time to be there.
I am indeed confirmed.

Dag nab it - I'm going to be in town the week before!!
Well that's very nice "Mr.anonymous." Glad to know you will be there.
I know who "Dag nab it" is, but I'm not telling. Here's a hint though, he has dickstes ding.
As for the cheap comment about deforestation, need I remind you that it is referred to in my profession as habitat management!
I spoke with Jon this evening...and since he and Len were tasked with determining the location, I inquired. Indeed a location has been selected. It is near the flowing waters of the Betsie River. Hopefully by the date of our rendezvous, the stench of rotting salmon will have cleared the air! Fear not! Jon told me of the approximate location and it should be excellent. There is much "habitat management" in the vicinity. Stand by for notice from Jon and Len for the actual, factual location. I trust we will receive it in the old fashiond TRS system for those of us that don't navigate by Lat/Long?
I was out hunting west o the designated camp location this evening. It started raining so the dogs and I went for a drive. I took them salmon fishing just downstream from the "official" bird camp location. Since I'm not sure of the exact "official" location, I can only estimate that it was within a mile or two as the crow flies. The salmon are in the river. Greta is a great fisher dog, but she was shocked to see how big those beasts are up close. She had a blast chasing them up and down the river. Junior on the other hand immediately located a carcass and attempted to get personal with it. After a brief, electronic lesson in avoidance...she chose to wander the banks in search of something else.
