Where The Flock To Pitch Camp ?

This posting is dedicated to the where question. I will start with a general review of comments received regarding the Dog Days of Autumn posting. Add your comments as the spirit moves you.

Pappy’s cabin is booked for the season by the recently/soon to be retired Pappy. Congratulations to Pappy on is well deserved extended vacation.

I also received a motion to hold next years gathering in North Dakota. The motion was immediately seconded. Now that’s the kind of out of the box thinking that true adventures are made of. Therefore, I am adding a separate posting to discuss A Grand Adventure in the Fall of 2005.

An Option for Camp LocationNorth side of Portage Creek, down river from the tank bridge.
(A few miles north of pappy’s cabins)

There are a few very nice camp areas, fairly secluded but with moderately high traffic this time of year. We also know the bird territory here fairly well. Also decent roads in and out.

What about
North of the Plate River Hatchery,
former Mecca of Birddom.

I haven’t been out there in years but there used to be a ton of good cover, and if I’m not mistaken, Scott may be able to direct us to some fresh cover over there.

Hows about,
North of Lovells,
between the Au Sable River and the Guard’s air to ground range,
just off Lint Trail ?
I’m not kidding, look it up.

Also a multitude of good cover but I haven’t scouted a campsite in this area yet.

Checked out the old stomping grounds near the Plate. Mostly just old now. Saw as many hunters as birds.

Dude (Rob, who continues to endeavor to post),

Stick with what you know; i.e. Portage Creek.
